convert plaxtor 740 to a Benq 1640

I try to convert plaxtor 740 to a Benq 1640 but i got this massage
The drive is not allowed to be updated.
I just try to upgrade firmware with benq firmware but i wasn't allowed to do that.
What is trick

So, what exactly do you gain by using Benq's firmware on this drive? Some additional features?

Yeah, Plextor disabled a bunch of stuff on the drive. You can't do media testing with it nor take advantage of technologies like SolidBurn and OverSpeed.
