Best drive I know with Panasonic chipset. LG does a great job with the tuning. 4166 is 16X CAV only, PCAV is only for 4167 with Renesas chipset.

Hello!

A great drive :)

Looks like the FW-programmer from LG beat Benq and Panasonic easily
Benq DW 1640 and 1650 , Plextor PX-755, Pioneer BDR-208 and 209D, LG GH24NSC0, LG BH16NS40 and 16NS55, Liteon ihas 124F and 324F, Pioneer DVR-215 and S21, Samsung SH-224DB and 224GB, and some more

Well, it took LG long enough to get it right. Their initial firmwares were horrid.

It would also be interesting to see what the writing quality looks like when tested with something other than a Lite-On.

Lots of scans with Benq 1620, 1625 and even the picky 1640 here:

The GSA-4166B is an excellent drive...

I would have just posted some scans...but don't know exactly how to do here

make a post.
at the bottom of the "post a reply" window, there's a section called "add an atachment". you browse to the file you want to attach, a graphics image in your case, add some text comment and click the "add attachment" button.
