Verbatium 8x DL Media and the LG 4167

Is there ANY way to burn Verbatiums 8x DL media over 2.4x on this drive? It does quite good @ 6x with the 2.4x stuff, I had high hopes but...

Side note: So far, the 8x stuff is proving to be worthless. The 1655 will burn them at 8x, but my Plextor with 2.4x media @ 6x is not only faster but better burn quality. Not happy with this $5/pc media!
BenQ 1655, BenQ 1620, LG 4167, Plex PX-716SA, Samsung SH-S162L, SH-S182M, Pioneer 111D, Lite-On SHM-165H6S and 1.9TB of HDDs to feed 'em and an X2/4800 to crunch for 'em.

I'd say your options are to wait for a new firmware release that properly supports MKM003, or to use something like the Media Code Speed Edit tool.
