I doubt it, since I downloaded it from BenQ's webpage before sending it to you :P

Nope, I don't have a change log yet. They've not on the main BenQ support site either. Hopefully soon..

I still wonder if TY will let the media come out.... even if the media is the best in the world, the format will never let it be very compatible.

ok....I just find it a bit strange that it is nowhere else....maybe one of those China only updates for poor media specific to that region...

thanks Ian....you figure it is ok to apply it?

Well, it is typical for BenQ firmwares to take a while (weeks, months) to make it to their international counterparts' websites. You do a make a valid point regarding the possibility of a specialized firmware for China, because BenQ did release a China-only firmware, B7S9, for the DW1620. It was supposed to be tweaked for fakes and low quality media.

Yes, it seems to work OK so far. Dont know that it's better but it's not any worse either. Nice thing about BenQ is they don't care if you go back on a older Firmware or not. You don't like it just go back to earlier version with no mucking around :)

Looking at the change log, I probably won't update my drive.

As far as it being a specific firmware for China, I don't think that's the case. BenQ really hasn't done that sort of thing.

Keep in mind that the whole BenQ/Lite-On thing has thrown both companies for a loop. Putting the latest firmware update is probably the last thing on their mind right now.

I'm using in it my review. All 16x DVDR media will be burned with this firmware, unless a newer one comes out soon (the same with RW and DL media).
