They have Seagate's 500GB (though an 8MB/IDE) for the same price...would make a great external.

The 16MB is $209...doesn't say IDE or SATA; I'd guess IDE...

They need to have a killer sale on the 750GB drives...
BenQ 1655, BenQ 1620, LG 4167, Plex PX-716SA, Samsung SH-S162L, SH-S182M, Pioneer 111D, Lite-On SHM-165H6S and 1.9TB of HDDs to feed 'em and an X2/4800 to crunch for 'em.

Ah yes, good find. :) The Seagate 500GB hard drive is on sale at Outpost too. It is the PATA/8MB Cache one, and the price is $189.99. So, with shipping, it'll probably even out to the $199.99 price tag at Fry's B&M.

Warning: The warranty is only 1 year, and this thing runs *hot*. Check out:
Code: Select all
% smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sdb | grep -i temperature
194 Temperature_Celsius     0x0032   041   253   000    Old_age   Always       -       53
%
That's 53C in an EXTERNAL aluminum enclosure with the cover off. Maxtor says the normal operating range is only up to 55C! Room temp of 82F.
