Dual Layer problem in DVD machine

Postby daveiosys on Mon Sep 04, 2006 6:09 pm

Burned a movie to a TDK DVD +R DL disk - found it would not play on my DVD machine. ???? - Do DVD machines only play DVD -R DL disks or does it depend on the DVD machine? Thanks.

It really depends on the machine. What you can try is setting the book type to DVD-ROM. This will usually get a player to read a DVD+R DL disc.

If I remember right, he has a Plextor PX-712A. I think you have to use Plextools to set the booktype.

I used a LG GSA-E10L to make the DVD +R DL.
Plextools XL Professional will change settings for my Plextor PX-712A but will not change settings for my LG GSA-E10L.
Any way to set the book type to DVD-ROM with Nero or Roxio?
Thanks.

You should be able to set the book type with the GSA-E10L by using CD Speed (www.cdspeed2000.com).

It might also be a quality issue... is TDK using Ritek DVD+RDL? if so, then it's probably right there.

TDK is ussing Ricohjpn D00 dual layer if I'm right.

If it's the media then try ussing verbatim/mitsubishi dual layer.

in Nero you can set it in the Choose Recorder dialog. click the Options button.
i'm sure you can do it in Roxio software too but i'm not familiar with it.
