Thanks for the direct link to RC2, Ian. Trying to get it from the Vista web site it & it wouldn't let me.

It'll go well with my new dual-core 8)

I saw the Alan Wake trailer after they showed it off at IDF. They had it running on a quad-core Kentsfield (basically, two of the dual core 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo Chips), oc'ed to 3.73Ghz (!).

It does look sweet.

Of course, so does Crysis...

Edit: God, halo 2 looks horrible...almost like what the orginal UT looked like. Doesn't even compare to UT2K4. Oh well; I've hated Halo since day one. Your character feels like he's running through molasses.

No offense Hox, I know you like Halo alot :)

i only semi like halo on the pc

i can't stand FPS genre's on consoles, i feel like the consumer is getting cheated because they could have such a greater sense of gaming on a pc

Halo on the PC sucks. They had to slow the game play down so people could play it on consoles but its too slow for PC's.

I agree... FPS's are best on the PC.

Hmm. Must have been.

You can always grab it off of the newsgroups, and compare the MD5 sums to the ones MS posted (which I still have, if you need).

Glad I got it when I did...

MS's servers have been pretty fast for me; they've maxed out my connection on all of the betas I've downloaded.

But yeah, newsgroups should be faster overall, IF you have a good server (verizons server sucks, it tops out about 50KB/sec....if I'm lucky).

What server do you use, hox? I've used Giganews & usenet.com. I'm none too happy with usenet.com, and will be switching when my month is up on the 15th...

Crap...sorry for the off-topic post

I have RC2 and my Audigy 2 ZS works fine with the beta Creative drivers on their website.

As far as newsgroups go, I use Newshosting. Their unlimited service is awesome and inexpensive.h

I'm using RC1 build 5600.

It seems to be fairly stable so far.

I had to tweak a Promise 100 ATA Controler Card software to get it to work right.

Not just almost double, it *IS* double the retention. Not to mention the text retention on Giganews is amazing at over 1,200 days.
