keep getting logged out really quick

Postby dodecahedron on Tue Oct 17, 2006 10:48 pm

i keep getting logged out really quickly - a few seconds after the login.
if i'm not real quick on the "View posts since last visit" link, by the time i press it i'm logged out, need to log in again and then of course the list of posts i haven't yet read is gone.

I bet that's the fix for the sessions. I believe if you don't have cookies enabled, you may get logged out if your session gets cleared from the database. Is anyone else running into this?

I had somethinmg similar happen just after the changeover to the new server- but that normalized afte I cleared the cookies.

And just now, I was kicked out after about 5 min.- I did manage to check all unread posts, so maybe this is a new "service" :o ?

yeah, happened to me a few more times since the first post.
i log in, real-quick click on the "View posts since last visit" so as not to miss them, open each new one in a new tab so i have to click say 4 or 10 clicks.
by the time these new tabs load they're already logged off!!! :o  #-o

can you guys do something about this, Ian ?

I'll talk to Socheat. The thing is, I can't reproduce it.

What browsers are you guys using?

Same here. I'll use Opera for a couple of days to see if it's reproducible.

I'm getting logged out every day or two now... just started happening to me over the last 5 or 6 days, and it's happening to me both at home and at work. I come to www.cdrlabs.com, and I'm either logged out of the main page and the forum, or just the main page, right from the beginning. Once I'm logged in it works fine as long as I'm browing though... and it seems to last at least a day each time as well.

Do you guys have "Log me on automatically each visit" checked?

I do, everytime, both at work and home.

I had this problem most of the week but now it seems to be better (the last 2 days or so). I'm using Seamonkey nightly builds... and yes, I have the box checked to stay logged in.

The session length is set to 3600 seconds so if you don't have that box checked, it will log you off.

It sounds to me that with the server move, cookies might have gotten corrupted or something. Either that, or they're not being set correctly.

no, i don't have that checked.

does that mean that after 3600 seconds i get logged off no matter what even if i browse during that time? or is it 3600 seconds of inactivity ?

I don't know. I'll have to do some tests and see.

I login from several different machines, sometimes more than days apart at a time, and I've stayed logged in on all of them. I use FireFox 1.5 and FireFox 2.0.

Try logging out, clearing your CDRLabs cookies, and log back in with "Log me on automatically each visit". See if that helps.

Where are you being logged out of? The forums, or the site in general?

Both... :(

But I came to work today and didn't have to re-log in manually.... so we'll see how things go.
