Oh, right. And I wonderes because a 18x nema was 1612.

But did this mean it´s a LG H10L?

If anyone's interested I have now purchased an LG H22L drive. I'll probably install it tomorrow. I need to do some serious drive shuffling at this point.

I'll probably replace my BenQ DW1650 in my testing tower, with the LG H22L. Then replace the LiteON SOHW-832S in my "work PC" with the BenQ DW1650. Oddly enough, both the DW1620 and DW1640 take higher priority to the BenQ DW1650 in my systems

I'm definitely curious what someone a little more skilled at this whole process thinks of the H22L. I normally burn 16X media at 8-12X (seem to get the best burns that way without running the risk of having buffer/transfer issues, etc) and my H22L produced really weird results. They're not horrible but not as good as the H10L and not what I'd expect from the most expensive burner I've bought lately. (sheesh, $50 is now expensive for a DVD burner, that's scary ;) ) I got it exchanged but am debating just returning it without trying the replacement, based on what I am seeing online.

Dolph-- besides overspeeding to 18x, can you try a few discs under rated speed? I'm curious if it's just my system (which has never had issues before).

The H10L rocks... I'm not so sure of the H22L.

I've only burned 2 discs so far (Acro Circle 16x DVD+R @16x and Philips 8x DVD+RDL at 4x) and so far I've been quite impressed. I didn't think any drive could beat the Pioneer DVR-111D's performance on Acro Circle 16x DVD+Rs... but the LG H22L is showing results on 16x burns that look comparable to the Pioneer's 8x burns on the same media type! The jitter looks quite nice at only 9.9% (according to my DW1640), which is quite low for a 16x burn.

If this is how it performs with only mid level quality media, I can't wait to see how it handles some really good stuff (like my Maxell BQ 8x DVD-Rs!!).

Don't worry, I'll post scans and do lot's more testing still

EDIT: The Philips 8x DVD+RDL burned at 4x looked half decent too. 4x was the max speed it could burn it at, and from what I saw of the scan before I left for work, it looked decent.

Philips 8x DVD+RDL = CMCMAGD04

It's odd, the BenQ scanned the disc half decently... but my LiteON SHW-1635S REALLY doesn't like it. The difference is night and day!! But on the previous LG drive the opposite was true with a lot of scans (BenQ hated them, LiteON loved them).

Really confused so far!

I don't have a review in the works unfortunately.... my life has developed to the point where I just can't geek-out like I used to.

But I do have a number of discs burned and tested on it, and I have hopes to burn and test a whole bunch more yet. The biggest problem I have is not having much time to sit down and actually POST them!
