Did it work fine in the years prior to 2006?

Which operating system? Do you have an ASPI intalled?

Which cd burning program do you use?

DVD...it never did handle them. Its only a cd burner.

I owned one of those drives, and it was rock solid for the time I had it.

Got one in my Win98SE computer that still works..............well, the last time I used it that is.

OK, so I didn't really help you out much. Did you get it to work correctly yet or is it toast?

Have one and still use it every day. I love it.

Try Spaz's suggestion it might help.

I've decided to use my 52246S to burn CD-Rs for a while and use my BenQ 1655 for DVDs only for a while and see how it goes! :D

EDIT: I probably said this in another thread somewhere in this forum, but I'm using the BenQ 1655 for burning both DVDs and CD-Rs because the scans are almost exactly the same for CD-Rs (TY media, the good ones before the quality started going downhill slightly). It's also a lot easier than firing up the older computer.:)
