Fox Cancels The O.C.

Postby Ian on Thu Jan 04, 2007 8:42 am

Tis a sad day. The O.C. has been cancelled.

The O.C.," the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student's grades, has been canceled. The final episode of the drama will air 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 22, Fox TV and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. said Wednesday.

The finale "will deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling four years ago," series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement. "It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do."

the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student's grades

Good quote. (chuckle)

I don't know if this is still the case, but a year and a half ago, I could have made an Obi-Wan Kenobi style joke of "I felt a great disturbance in the Force...as if millions of teenage girls' voices cried out in anguish, and were suddenly silenced". ;)

It was easy to tell by how many requests I got to unblock fan sites for the show (sites that had additional questionable content that thus made it onto our internet filter's blocklist). I haven't gotten any in awhile though, so I'm guessing the quote above is very true.

Allow me to say this about that:

I've lived in OC for 40 years and specifically in the next beach town up the coast from Newport Beach.

So it's one of two things for me who never watched it:
1. If it bears some resemblance to reality, then I didn't miss anything by not watching the show as I see it in real life every day.
2. If it's the usual Hollyweird make-believe, not worth watching anyway.

I'm 39 years old.

What's The O.C. ?

I reckon I'm not missing it already if I have no idea what it is.

Seriously, I've never seen it.

You're not missing anything. Both of those shows are overrated IMO.

Spaz,

It's the county that I live in, Orange County.
We are the next county on the Pacific Coast that is south of Los Angeles County and north of San Diego.

Where are you going to live now that FOX has pulled the plug on your entire county?

Retire and get a double wide 60 miles northwest of Phoenix?

No, that's OK, I can live without FOX until the NASCAR season starts.

I'll be sad to see you cancelled Slim. You were the best show on this forum.
A man has been charged after allegedly punching a 73-year-old woman in the face, breaking her nose and stabbing her in the arm with a corkscrew before hitting a second woman with a bottle at a wedding reception in the Whitsunday Islands.
