Robotech: Shadow Chronicles

Postby dolphinius_rex on Sun Feb 04, 2007 4:57 pm

I picked up Robotech: Shadow Chronicles yesterday and gave it a watch. The cheesy space CGI bugged me a bit, but I really enjoyed the storyline which kept a lot of the same cheese and goofyness of the original. I found myself both laughing at it and laughing WITH it on many occasions, but came away from it feeling very satisfied.

I also laugh because I bought it 3 days before the release date

I highly recommend it for all Robotech fans out there... especially Ian

Grr... I've been trying to score a copy for a week now. After reading a report that a guy picked up a copy at a Best Buy in Milwaukee, I tried the ones in the area. They had plenty in stock but none would sell them to me until the release date (the 6th). Bribery didn't even work.

Rumor is that they're already talking about a sequel.

Yeah well the way it ends deffinately lends itself to a sequel... I would say it almost REQUIRES one.

Although I'd prefer a whole series personally

I finally got around to watching the movie. The animation was great but the story was so so. Also, if you've never watched Robotech, you probably won't know what's going on or who most of the characters are.

I expected some differences from the Sentinels books, but making the Haydonites to be the evil bad guys? wtf? If they were going to change the story that much, they should have come up with another race.

I was kind of miffed about the Haydonites being the bad guys also... didn't make much sense to me. Also I thought Rick Hunter had been aged WAY too much.

I thought the characters were decent enough though. Especially the one tech-geek character, he was pretty funny.

The story seemed about right for Robotech for me. Lot's of little plot holes you shouldn't ask about, but good fun none the less. I wasn't disappointed at all.

Also, what was the deal with the Beta fighters? Instead of being transforming mecha, they looked like back packs for the Alpha fighters.

Speaking of Betas.. peep this.

I'm all over that Cyclone. I've been wanting one of those for like 20 years.
