CDRLabs DVD Writer Poll - February

Postby Ian on Thu Feb 01, 2007 5:18 pm

Vote for what you think is the best, all around DVD writer. By doing so, you'll hopefully help those looking to buy a new drive. Once again, I tried to chose original drive designs that are currently available or will be soon.

Feel free to leave comments and an explanation as to why you voted the way you did. Also, if there's a drive you'd like to see added to the poll, let me know.

For reference, here's the top drives from January's poll:
1. Pioneer DVR-111/A11
2. LG GSA-H22N/L
3. (tied) Lite-On SHM-165H6S/165P6S and Samsung SH-S182D/182M
4. (tied) LG GSA-H10N/L/A and Plextor PX-760A/SA

As promised, the Lite-On SHM-160H6S/160P6S has been dropped from the poll. To make up for it, I added the LH-20A1S to the mix.

I just realized that I've been doing these polls for a year now. Time sure does fly...

I think u should remove the LG H10-series from Poll, it´s old model, the H12 is more popular now

Hmm.. then why did the H10 get more votes than the H12 last month? As long as its still available in stores and people vote for it, it will stay.

K. got 2 buy a dvd drive shall i go with the poll results and choose Pioneers DVR 111 or take it that the DVR 112D is better and buy this. I'm a no hassle kind of guy, don't mind updating drivers etc but easily get frustrated whith tech issues. I know the 112D is fairly new, come out this month I think. are there ppl who have bought this and have not voted because its no good/better than its predecessor, or is it simply the case its not been properly tested by ppl yet?

I usually go with stats and help from reviews and ratings and usually don't go wrong but this is a recently launched (in the west that is) product so thought I might ask as I can't c reviews on the site.

cheers. :-k :-s ](*,)

The DVR-112D has been available in Japan for a month or two but it is just now shipping to North America and Europe. As it is, I know of only one person that owns one... and its not me.

Hi, I'm new. First post.

I want the best drive that burns RAM at 12X. I read that the LG doesn't verify the data or the discs or something. Can someone please expand on that. This drive will be mostly for data archival at work, so I want a drive that I can trust and that verifies successful burns.

Thank you.

I hadn't heard that. Most, if not all, drives capable or writing to DVD-RAM will verify the data if you tell it to.

Been voting for the terrific 111d for the past couple of months, but LG just
updated the firmware on the H10N and wow what great burns - so "old" as it may be, gotta give it my vote this month
