You shouldn't have to do anything to your IDE drives. Just hook it up and go.

Do you have your hard drive and your slave DVD writer on the same IDE chain?

any sata drive operates all by itself, no jumpers to set

your other stuff can be configured as such:

hard drive is set to master
other dvd writer if on the same ide cable, set that to slave

but if possible put that other dvd writer on its own ide port, you'll get better burns because theres no other data being sent through that cable other then the writing

You can only connect one drive to any SATA controller therefore no setting can be required.

thx for that genius insight i was just pointing out a nice benefit for the original poster

believe it or not some of my customers still don't understand why they have to or even how to set the jumpers on drives
