dolphinius_rex: Need B.C. Advice

Postby cougfan on Sun Apr 29, 2007 3:13 pm

dolphinius_rex,

Looks like I am going to tag along with my wife to a medical conference in Vancouver B.C next month and I was hoping (since your sig says that is your home) you could let me know what downtown restaurants are well regarded. We will be staying at the Fairmont, so nearby is best. The one I have found most interesting to me is called 'Chambar' because I love Belgian beers... But I still need to find a great seafood place and a good cigar store... Heck, anything I shouldn't miss? TIA

Hey Cougfan,

Well, I don't spend a lot of time downtown where your hotel is, but I bugged a friend of mine and she gave me a few ideas for you, and I was able to come up with a few myself.

For food, I don't really know what you like, but we've got tons of options here in Vancouver. My friend recommended The Met, or Feenies, or The Cloud 9 Restaurant, aka The Revolving Restaurant.

Here's a nice list of Restaurant:

Here is a list of Clubs:

Really this is a great site in general for your needs I think... most things you're looking for can probably be found here:

For seafood, my only real knowledge on that topic lay with Sushi restaurants, and the Vancouver Aquarium... and I'm not sure either of those are QUITE what you're looking for. But hopefully the restaurant guide will give you a few ideas at least.

Do drop me a line if you'd like to meet up though, I'm always interested in meeting people from this or any of the forums I frequent :)

I hope you and your wife have a great time out here though. When the weather is nice, it's one of the best places on earth!!

You *BOTH* need to come to Vancouver actually... or at least Seattle and I'll meet you half way.

Alternatively, Maxell might sponser me to CES in 2008

I need to acquire some more Frequent Flier miles, maybe I'll start working on that today. Did I mention that I usually fly for free? \:D/

I live in WI... Gotta say Canadian Beer is better when in Canada than American beer.

Also, been to Cloud 9 in Vancouver... It was very good food and a very nice view. Love the mountains.
