50GB Blu-ray burners w/ SATA

Postby MonteLDS on Mon Jun 18, 2007 12:51 pm

i feel so bad for asking such a question. But are their any Blu-ray burners that are widely available that are 50GB burners and sata.

I have only seen the Sony one around a store and of course that is PATA. I am possibly going be doing some HD recording and 2hrs won't be long enough, and i do have a PATA spot on my motherboard but it is actually a RAID controller, so i'd prefer it to be on SATA

All i have seen are models that can't be find anywhere like a BenQ

Off the top of my head, the Lite-On LH-2B1S is probably your best choice if you need SATA. The LG GGW-H10N also has SATA but it costs $1200.

From what I understand, it will write to 50GB discs but only at 1x. I wish I could tell you more but Lite-On America didn't send out any samples.

Hmm.. looking at the specs on Lite-On's website, they've removed all mention of 50GB media.
