Older movies really CAN look good in High Definition

Postby Wesociety on Sun Jun 24, 2007 11:51 pm

For awhile now, I have be wondering how good (or bad) older movies would look when transferred to HD DVD or Blu-ray Disc.

This weekend I sat down and had a viewing of Blazing Saddles (1974) on HD DVD. There must have been some digital restoration and color retouching, because this film looked amazing. Many of the scenes had extremely vibrant colors, which made the picture pop out of the HDTV. The picture quality on Blazing Saddles on HD DVD looked better than some of the newer films I've seen on HD DVD.

If you have any experience with viewing older films in HD, feel free to add to this thread.
