Looks like an NEC drive. Not a bad price for an external.

Are the NEC drives pretty decent?Hey Ian,I've seen alot of negative complaints on the HP DVD940e.Do you think that the DVD1040e would be nice?Good price on it too!

The DVD1040e is based on a Lite-On design. Last time I checked MadDog was using Samsung drives in their kits.

So,is that good or bad?I know that the mad dogs come with Roxi software.EEK............good thing I already have Nero!

So,just tell me.If you were me;which would you buy?
HP DVD1040e or Mad Dog 18x or Pioneer DVR-X122 or Lite-on 20x ext. drive or the Sony grey 20x ext. dvd writer?

There are alot of burners claiming to be fast nowdays. But,which EXT. 2.0 DVD burner writes the best?
