Cant update my LG GSA-55L firmware?

I launch the app GSAH55L_102.exe and it keeps saying " Valid Atapi Device cant be found, F/W model number is DVD RAM GSA 55L

I'm not sure. It's possible your IDE drivers could be preventing it from detecting it. Can you tell me more about your system specs.

I have Asus A7N8X Deluxe with a Mobile athlon 2600, What other info do you need?

You don't have it hooked up to a RAID controller or anything do you? Also, is the drive's ID string "HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55L"?

kiaconcepts ripped a GSA-E60L out of the external enclosure and connected it internaly. While the sticker on the drive says GSA-H55L, the drive id used by the firmware is HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-E60L, so the H55L flasher refuses to update the drive. Full cross-site-post info here.
