Blu-Ray and HD DVD - playback info

Postby algrinch on Sun Sep 09, 2007 2:37 pm

Ed Bott wrote a series of blogs about playing High Def video using his computer. He uses two different set ups and trys Blu-ray and HD DVD.

I found it interesting that there was less CPU Usage during Blu-Ray playback.

This guy is obviously a n00b when it comes to playing HD DVD and Blu-ray on a computer. He doesn't seem to know how HDCP works.

As far as the CPU differences go, the discs were probably encoded differently. Since he doesn't say what movies he's using, I can't check to see what codecs they used. It might also be an issue with PowerDVD. If he wanted to be sure, he could have rerun the tests with WinDVD or something.
