CDRLabs DVD Writer Poll - November

Postby Ian on Sun Nov 04, 2007 9:05 am

Vote for what you think is the best, all around DVD writer. By doing so, you'll hopefully help those looking to buy a new drive. Once again, I tried to chose original drive designs that are currently available or will be soon.

Feel free to leave comments and an explanation as to why you voted the way you did. Also, if there's a drive you'd like to see added to the poll, let me know.

For reference, here's the top drives from October's poll:

1. Samsung SH-S203B/SH-S203N
2. LG GSA-H62N/GSA-H62L
3. (tied) Lite-On DH-20A3H/DH-20A3P, Pioneer DVR-111/DVR-111D/DVR-A11 and Plextor PX-760A/PX-760SA

As I mentioned last month, the Plextor PX-760A has been retired and has been sent off to the hall of fame. The LG GSA-H42N/GSA-H42L, LG GSA-H50N/GSA-H50L, Samsung SH-S182D/SH-S182M and Samsung SH-S183A/SH-S183L have also been dropped from this months poll due to their age and lack of votes.

The Pioneer DVR-111/DVR-111D/DVR-A11 is the next drive up for retirement. I'll probably let it stick around for another month or two as its still very popular.

I voted for the Samsung SH-S203B again. It's still one of the better drives I've tested in some time.

ASUS said that they're going to send me a 2014.. but I'm not holding my breath. They also said they were going to send me an 1814 and never did. I'll have to ask LG about the GSA-H58N and GSA-H66N.

I don´t think the Samsung is the King, I read sometimes that it only have good performance with expensive media

I didn't think any media was expensive anymore. Even the premium stuff is low priced these days.

Yeah, the only difference between the B and N versions is LightScribe. I'm not sure what's different betwen the B and D versions though.
