The New York Giants Improbable 2007-2008 Season!

Postby TheWizard on Mon Feb 04, 2008 2:09 am

I don't think many people picked the Giants to win it all back when the 2007 football season started. Furthermore, the G-Men were underdogs to the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers (sorry Ian), and New England Patriots throughout the post-season. While it may seem like a Sports Illustrated cliché, the New York Giants certainly had an improbable season, particularly in the playoffs.

Who would've thought that little Eli Manning and his constantly perplexed face could pull off an upset against the undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl? Also, saving the best for last, the play that Manning, halfway on the ground, escaped four or five New England defenders and launched a pass to David Tyree (of all people, who happened to attend my alma mater) who ended up making a circus catch. Stuff like this could not have been written any better! I am in awe. I am flabbergasted. I am overjoyed. Giant fan or not, this Super Bowl was one of the most memorable ever.

It was a good game. The two teams were pretty evenly matched and yeah, the Giant's win was a pleasant surprise.

It was one of the best Super Bowls I ever saw... No, I am not a Giants fan or a Patriots fan... but that was one of the rare occasions the game lived up to the "Super Bowl" name. I consider that game in the top 5 greatest games of all time (The 1980 "Miracle on Ice" was my number 1). It's good to see an underdog come out and play like that.

That play was insane! One of the Patriots grabbed on to Manning's jersey, he somehow managed to pull free and throw a long one to Tyree, the ball went through a defenders hands, and then Tyree somehow managed to hold the ball with one hand against his helmet until he hit the ground. Spectacular play!

Yes, I too thought it was definitely one of the best Super Bowl games. I was glad to see that the underdog won and won good! I remember the 72 Dolphins, that's when football was football. And I'm happy that they are still the only undefeated team. Cheers to the Giants! =D>
