Stereo Question

Postby jacktheripper on Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:07 am

Ya, i know its a peculiar question but I know theres a whole lot of movie lovers in here so I figured it was worth asking.

I have a Kenwood VR-8060 (yes i know...) connected to a Toshiba DVD SD-4000 and a full set of Nuances. Their all gold Master Series Acoustic Research cables connecting everything.

The issue is, is that I got bad lip synching in my movies. I have my recievers speaker distances set properly and the whole nine yards, I tried adjusting my center to all sorts of distances in hoping it would change it and no luck. So I switched from 5.1 to Stereo, which made no difference. I've done alot of fooling around and found no solution as of yet. With that big of sound, lip synching and "boot to mouth sound synch" starts to make a whole lot more of a difference.

Anyone had such a thing?

Has it always done this, or just recently? Are you using analog or digital inter-connects?

I have a similar problem when viewing DivX movies using HDMI . Of course, Lite-On has a fix for players sold in Taiwan and Europe but not those in the US. [-X

I've been noticing it more lately now that I've been watching more movies.

Theres no HD or HDMI going with this, I'm using a Digital Coax to run audio from the DVD to the reciever. I could switch to optical to see if it would make a difference but I'd really like to avoid going to RCA's. I haven't thought to try it since theres probably just enough space for a small child to work comfortably.

Ah....probably have to crawl in anyhow.

There are no optical connectors on that reciever.

Aha!

But still no ideas for a solution eh?

Shoot, i thought procrastinating would fix that. Optical + PS2 equals no lag with games and the like...but DVD + Digital Coax means lag.

Here comes wire switching fun.

I'd try using the optical cable on your DVD player first. If it's still there then try an analog rca cable. As your PS2 isn't doing it, it might just be a setting in your DVD player, have you tried playing with the PCM/Bitstream setting? On another thought, what connection are you using for video?

Ooh, I didn't think of the PCM settings...good call.

Um, video...*thinks* I believe its component. I'll have to get back to it, i'll drop back in here after i start playing with wires...
