dvd-r versus dvd+r

hi
imtrying to put movie files from a dvd into my computer.i opened up my software and tried to put the files from a dvd -r into my hard drive.the dvd-r had a problem.the error
message said "cannot continue.....failed to open the file c/document&settings/owner/
mydocuments/nerovision.there r no more files.ok i tried this same action with a dvd+
r disk and it processed the movie on it with out a problem.how are these 2 dvds diff-
erent and why did one work and the other didnt?thanks...

More likely its due to writing quality or the quality of the disc itself rather than the format.
