Dartman, what's your take on the 7260?

It's exactly the same unit as the 7240 with a updated firmware as I volunteered to test the experimental 7263 crossflash on my overheated but still working badly 7240 drive and it took it perfectly and actually so far burns nicely now.
I posted my test burn after the flash on the CD Freaks thread about whether the newer drive was any good, or one of them anyways.
Anyways it exactly as good as the 7240 was except they will continue to update FW for it which I doubt they will now do for the 40.
I don't think Liggy will ever release the update into the wild but we proved it works so they must be almost identical units, and Label flash worked in Nero as well.
So I'd say get the 60 if you want the latest version, or if you don't care buy the 40 when they get cheap like it has lately.

The 7260S does have one advantage over the 7240S. It uses CLV when rewriting at 8x. I think this is the first drive I've seen that does this.

Well if it did full 8x speed to all 8x burns that would be really great but that still is one minor other point in it's favor. The 2740 is again 19.99 at the egg unless it just changed again since I saw it.
Of course they just released a update for the 7240 too now that I said they wont be updating it and both of mine are now at 7263 specs. Label flash is a fun toy to waste crap media with anyways
