Proposition to anyone?

Got a hot deal you want to share? Need one?

Proposition to anyone?

Postby Fuct on Thu Jan 01, 1970 6:32 am

Ok, here's the deal - I live in Canada, so I don't have access to a BB nearby (closest one is a few hrs away, across the border). I'm wondering if anyone would be so kind to be interested in purchasing a Fuji 100-pack and sending it by mail/UPS or something. I would of course pay for the whole thing including postage cost and something bonus for your help! And for the mail-in rebate, you could either mail away for it yourself and I'd pay the price minus the 18$ rebate or send the mail-in rebate w/ receipt with the cds and I'd pay the whole cost.

Just a propostion I had.. if anyone is interested just say so :)
Otherwise I'd probably have to make a trip across the border this weekend for a couple days, make a worthwhile stay out of it at least (and besides, we don't get deals like this up here!)

One BIG Problem. Most of all our Best Buy's here in the U.S. are sold out of Fuji 100-packs. Even BestBuy.com is on back order. With only 3 days til the sale is over, its very hard for us Americans to get our hands on a 100-pack of Fuji's. I'm sure all of us would buy it for ourselves if we could find any in stock, much else help someone else out. Good Luck finding a person with a Best Buy that actually has the Fuji 100-packs in stock.

Hmm...I saw a bunch of Fuji CDRs at my BB here in Kansas City, but didn't feel like spending money on any since I've been perfectly happy with the free and less than free CMCs I've been getting lately.

Wouldn't postage to Canada negate any savings from buying here in the US?

Not just the postage, but also the outragous customs fees he'd have to pay to pick them up. It nearly doubles the original cost.

But we don't get ANY deals up here.

Spazmogen, I've actually looked into this... there is a way around the brutal customs fees. Canadians are allowed to receive "gifts" sent from the U.S. with a maximum value of $60 Canadian funds without having to pay duty. The only thing is that the package must say gift somewhere on the Customs sheet that they attach to the package and also some sort of gift note or card inside the package, which really isn't hard to do.

"Hey [name], saw these cds and thought you might want 'em." Simple as that. Plus, the Fuji cds are about $30 US with tax there, which comes out to about 48 bucks Canadian, safely under the limit.

But yea, Buddha and KuoH make some good points... one, finding some Fuji in stock would be a problem it itself, and postage fees are the only thing I am not really able to look into (don't know rates or weight of shipment), and that could very well be very costly, especially when dealing with UPS or the sort.

The main reason I would be willing to go through all the trouble for this is, and I'm pretty much repeating what Spazmogen already said, we get NO deals up here. The best is like $17-22 bucks (US funds) for a 50-pack of no-name and sometimes CMC. For Fuji, Sony, Verbatim, it's about $30-34 US for a 50-pack spindle (I'm going by my local FutureShop prices)... when you guys are paying 8 bucks for 100 after MIR :(

Spaz if you know of any canadian website where you can purchase good media for a reasonable price (and reasonable shipping price) let me know!

You Canadians really need to befriend someone who lives very close to the Canadian border. Then you could just ship online orders to a U.S. address and then just drive to pick them up and not have to deal with customs, Canadian shipping, and etc. Only problem is, I dunno how far you guys live from the U.S. border.

What part of Canada are you in Fuct?

I was @ BB @ Markville Mall Oct 30 and I saw a few of those 100pc Fuji's on the shelf.

Just in case you don't have the link : http://www.bestbuycanada.ca. Too bad there isn't one close to whereever you live.

Here's a Canadian deal for you-

http://www.staples.ca/products/catalog/ ... setid=3944

That link is to Staples.ca

They have spindles of 25, of KODAK cd-r's for $9.97 CDN.

If you want 100 discs, then it's about $46 gst/pst included.

Staples has free next day shipping if you're close enough to a store (minimum $50 for free shipping).

So get 5 spindles of Kodak cd-r's.

Kodak stopped making cd-r's back in the spring. They're getting hard to find.

Staples' product # is 455756 in case the link doesn't work.

Action Jackson, I'm from Montreal. Great city, but no BB as of yet!

Spazmogen, thanks for the link... could be an interesting deal, except that they are rated at 12x. Also I'd have to buy 5 spindles for free shipping.. do you know if they offer this deal in-store?

Buddha - I actually have a U.S. shipping address (and it's not too far from me, only about 1.5 hrs each way), but a couple of problems with that: I don't have a credit card with a U.S. billing address, so I can't order online at BestBuy.com. Also, even if I were to get it shipped there, coming back would be difficult - Canada customs charges horrible duty and tons of tax on all products unless I were to stay over 24 hrs in the U.S, in which case I'd be allowed to bring back $50 CDN worth of merchandise (about $32 U.S.).

No, unfortunately I don't know anyone near a Sam's... but there is a Sam's just across the border, about 1.5 hours away for me again. That is a pretty good deal though, very good price. Thanks unclebud.

Fuct:
Try checking out the store on the www.shopping.yahoo.com site.

I've had good luck finding a few that will bill a Canadian credit card, but ship to a USA address.

www.yesbuy.net comes to mind they have 99 minute cd's too!

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/upgradecenterinc/index.html is another one.

The Staples store opened today in my town of 35,000 !

They had all kinds of media, but the Kodak were not on the shelves.

It seems to be an online thing only.

I have a Staples Canada catalogue from mid summer and the 25 pack is listed in there for $31.99

For an "extra discount" on Staples stuff in Canada, visit www.redflagdeals.net and goto the coupons section. There should be some coupon codes that anyone can use for online shopping.

I'm not sure what the values of the coupons are right now.

Don't forget order's over $50 get free shipping if you live "near" a Staples.
