Liteon 166 Speed Problem

Postby Ron on Wed Nov 13, 2002 6:51 am

Hello Forum :),

I have bought a new Liteon DVD 166 yesterday and I have got one question: I have heard that this a real fast drive but for example, ripping a 7GB DVD with smartripper took me about 16 minutes with an top speed of 6,5x. My friend has a 163 liteon and told me that speeds of 8x-10x are possible. Can someboday confirm this?

Also the dvd nero test could not get the scores from the 163 review on this page.

I have got Win XP and a P4 with 512Mb R-Dram. DMA is set to mode 3 in the IDE-controller box of the xp system settings.

Maybe a bad drive, should I get a new one or did I miss something?

Thanks for your feedback,

ron

if it is 7GB then it must be dual-layered. these DVDs rip slower - the drive has to slow down to read them.
