Nero (OEM) Serial #

Postby Spazmogen on Mon Nov 18, 2002 3:47 am

I'm running the latest version of Nero (Demo version with Serial #).

If I chose to switch to the OEM CD that came with the Lite On 52x24x52x how do I find the serial # so I can upgrade it? Is the OEM version on the cd only Nero Express? I glanced at the disc, then just put it away in a box.

I don't really need to do it - I'm not going to forsake my current serial #- but I was wondering how it's done.

(If it's not broken, don't fix it).

Thanks.

Open the registry with regedit, and look in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info\Serial5 ;)

Thanks Inertia!

I have not installed it yet. But I may, should I ever need to format C: again.

I just checked another forum and found that it should work the same as the present copy UNLESS I have a non-Lite On burner installed with my Lite On burner. In English: 2 burners installed, one of which is not Lite On. I doubt I can afford a second burner anytime soon, so that should not be a problem.

The demo serial still expires in 30 days doesn't it? From past experience with rebadged LiteOns, they come with the full OEM version of Nero.

That's why I was glad to order the Lite On 52x burner, as it had a bundled version of Nero with it.

For some reason, I thought it was a copy of Express only.

I installed it this morning-after my night shifts-and had problems updating InCD from the OEM version to the latest version.

Never do anything after a night shift except sleep.

I just uninstalled the OEM InCD, then reinstalled InCD from the web site.

I updated the OEM version of Nero to the latest version from the web page, all was fine. It still says 'bundled' beside my name, but that's fine.

That's how it should be. The bundled status doesn't change unless the serial number gets lost or you replace it with another on through the license screen.

As for updates, I've never had to uninstall my old versions, just choose the upgrade option.
