My Firewire case is making my tests fail

I rest my case with these pics:

A burned disc @52x tested on the Firewire case:

So how a damaged sector can disappear and appear in another place?

the same disc tested with CD Quality Check:


When the same disc was tested again it shows errors in another part of the disc.
The final proof is that the burner is capable of 52x reading speed, I noticed that the led is flashing while reach the faster speed in these tests.

Now the same disc tested on drive connected on IDE port:


And now the CD Quality Check shows full speed:


My case came from a Creative 24x external drive, every time I bought a new drive I replaced the previous.

I have no writing problems, even read transfer test shows full speed but for testing with Scandisc or CD Quality Check errors appears.

What do you think?

Short answer is that the firewire bridge board may do no error detection or correction,
and IDE cables can introduce crosstalk. Check your firewire enclosure's IDE cable.

Using either TY discs, or TDK (Ritek??) discs, when I have errors after a testing a burn, it almost always shows no errors on the next test of the same disc.

My Firewire case doesn't use a stripped cable, even more it uses a 80 wires whith a ferrite attached to the adaptor for noise reduction.

The tests doesn't fail if I kept the maximum read of the drive at 32x, so my deduction is that the converter is not capable of mantain the data speed over 32x, see one of the graphsics.

The curious thing is that the burnings and readings are ok cause Nero's compare after burns never fail, just the test fail.

Also I tested some media I burned while ago that I thank is damaged, but now with the drive connected to an IDE port those discs are good.

I put back the original drive, a 24102B LiteOn.

Maybe I'll try another FireWire to IDE adaptors later and see what happen.

Ok, then maybe your CD drive and the firewire bridge disagree as to whether
or not the cable is 80 conductor? I've read that such disagreement can lead to
data errors as well. Try configuring the bridge board to only negotiate up to
UDMA2 (no UDMA3/4/5). Assuming you have an oxford chipset on your bridge board, you
can configure it using the firmware flash utility.

Yes the cable is a 80 conductor, there is no way to configure the board, has no switches, no jumpers and also no firmware utility.

I really don't care since Burns are OK, readings are OK, just the damm tests fail.

So now I'll do the tets on the drive connected to the IDE port.

Ehm, short question - can't contribute anything to the problem, but can someone tell me what program it is you use to check the CD integrity? I'm new to CD burning, and I'd like to check which burning speed is still okay for my CD-Rs I have here..

Ah, sorry, after twiddling around with CD Speed, I found out that the screenie were from this tool - I just didn't expect these functions with a tool called "CD *SPEED*"
