Just to clarify re the MSI 48x CD writer...

... with Exaclink. I seem to recall people saying that this drive is not as good as the Acer Seamless Link one, is that right?

Wasn't this one the one made by Accesstek? Can someone tell me why it was no good? Thanks!

You'd have to ask JesusFreak, but I've had a lot of issues with writing quality. The number of write errors jumps up when it changes to 40x and in most cases, makes the disc unreadable past that point.

MSI did release a new firmware for the drive on 10/31, but this one actually decreased the media compatibility. Most of the media that worked at 48x before, writes at only 40x now.

MSI told me they were supposed to have a fix in a couple weeks. Its already been a few weeks and I haven't heard anything from them.
