Two burner questions...

Postby scottm on Fri Nov 29, 2002 3:43 pm

Two questions related to the Black Friday deals.

For people who own (or in the know) about:

SONY 48x24x48 (CRX-215 I think):
Supposed to be a Lite-On...but "Power Burn" buffer protection? Also, specs didn't like line-up right. Is this really one?

BUSLINK External USB 2.0 52x24x52:
Definitely is a Lite-On according to website. But does it have an On/Off button on the back? That's SO convenient when you choke a disk and a huge reason to choose external over internal. The Iomega one does not...does this?

The Sony is a Lite-ON I have not heard of one not being a Lite-ON yet.

The Sony is based on the Lite-On drive itself, but Sony uses its own firmware which comes with their own Power-Burn protection and things such as the "Turbo Boost" feature... that aren't on the Lite-On drives.
You can even flash this drive with Lite-On firmware and it will work perfect, yet with Lite-On features instead of Sony's own.
