Thanks aviationwiz for the update.

I must have missed it when I was flipping through the Best Buy Ad.

OK. My math skills are fairly rudimentary, but when did 37.99-10 = 17.99?

Add Prodisc to the list of manufacturers for the Memorex 48x CD-Rs. :)

In fact, I do believe that the manufacturer for the illustration of the 100-pack Memorex 48x that BuddhaTB used for this thread is Prodisc. :)

My solution to the Plextor vs. Lite-On debate: Buy 'em both! :)

Thank you for the information and details. My original post has been edited to reflect this new info.

The Fuji 50-Pack of CD-R's and the BUSlink 48x12x48 CD-RW drive are both sold out at BestBuy.com. In addition, most Best Buy stores are sold out of both items, if not quanities are very limited!
Better rush on over to your Best Buy if you want these great deals on the Fuji and BUSlink drive to see if they have any in stock.

Also, I'd like to add that the 50-pack FujiFilm Color 40x CD-Rs (also made by Taiyo Yuden) are the same price (and feature the same rebate) as the silver-topped 40x and 48x CD-Rs. There are new stickers for the UPC on the color CD-Rs (they have the same UPC as the silver-topped ones).

I suspect that Fuji is doing this in order to quickly sell the old, slower (read: up to 40x with the white screw top) media. :)

[Yes, I know that 40x is not slow; but keep in mind that this media was originally certified for up to 24x (and in some cases 16x).]

Here is a picture of the 30-pack (but the 50-pack is similar and is the quantity on sale)

Act now...these CD-Rs are moving fast! :D

(If you can't find the FujiFilm CD-Rs, get the 100-pack Memorex 40x or 48x CD-Rs that are Japanese-made. These are made by Taiyo Yuden as well...as others have mentioned, look for "Made in Japan" on the label.)

Most of the silver topped 40x Fuji CD's were able to write at 48x. So I would assume that the colored Fuji CD's made by Taiyo Yuden too would be able to write at 48x also.

Regardless of what speed these Fuji CD's are rated at, this deal is very good and selling out very quickly!

BuddhaTB Is the liteon 48x 12x 48x able to read all the audio protections like the new liteon 52x 24x 52x ? Like lets say by the liteon's 48x 12x 48x latest firmware? Or would you have to overclock it to a 52x 24x 48x to beable to have it read all the audio protections the offical liteon 52x 24x 52x can read?
Any help appreicated

I'm not 100% sure if the Lite-On 48x12x48 can read all 100% Audio Protections. The Lite-On 48x24x48 drive that my TDK is based has done a good job with the audio CD's I have used on it. However, the newest CD I used in my 48x drive was Linkin Park's "Reanimation" CD, which came out back in August. So I'm not too sure if the Lite-On can handle ALL audio protections. I'll let someone else who knows more about it, answer ur question. But to my knowledge, Lite-On does a pretty good job with audio CD's, but maybe not all the way up to Plextor or Yamaha's standards. The new firmware for the Lite-On might help. As for overclocking the 48x drive to 52x, only the Lite-On 48x24x48 drives based on the newer 6 series chip is overclockable. The model # of the overclockable Lite-On 48x24x48 CD-RW drive is LTR-48246S. By overclocking it to a 52x24x52, there is a high possibility that it will perform very similar to Lite-On's LTR-52246S 52x24x52 drive.

Just a quick followup.
The picture of Memorex 100pack is of the CMC media...NOT Prodisc.
If you are looking for Prodisc, the top edges actually look like the CMC 50pack box, but instead of CMC's plastic washers, Prodisc uses a foam ring.
CMC also uses a two piece base and center stick (it unscrews from the base), while Prodisc uses a single piece base with stick.

The above only applies to Memorex 100pack media. (although the plastic washers have been a CMC giveaway so far)

8) I Went to the Sacramento, Ca. Best Buy yesterday topurchase the Fuji disks that had rebate on them. they had a good stock in hand. ALSO I happened to look at the MEMOREX 100 pk that had a rebate on them lo and behold they say MADE IN JAPAN on them. previously i had only seen memorex's that were made in either India of Taiwan. I'm just guessing that these are TY's (can anyone confirm). Well anyways it is too late since i picked up two packs of each (Fuji and Memorex's). JUST AN FYI THAT SOME MEMOREX PACKAGES NOW SAY MADE IN JAPAN!!!! :D
