If you don't believe the first time, why ask a second time?

What was that?

If you don't believe the first time, why ask a second time?

Postby cfitz on Tue Nov 26, 2002 12:27 am

Please tell me if I am imagining things. It seems that in the last week or so there have been a number of instances of a strange phenomenon where people either don't believe replies to their posts or don't even bother reading those replies. I expect to get the same questions asked over and over again by different people, either because they are too lazy to read through the reviews and forums or because they are having trouble with the search function or just need a little clarification. But lately there seem to have been a number of different instances where some one person asks the same question over and over again. Worse, that person asks it repeatedly in the same thread. And this isn't limited to just one particular person. I have seen a number of people doing this.

People, what is the problem? Are you not reading the replies to your questions? Do you not believe the answers you are getting (and, if so, what makes you think you will believe the anwer the second, third or fourth time you ask)? Are you suffering from extreme short term memory loss and can't remember what you read two posts back? Is there some sort of disease sweeping through the ranks of CDRLabs readers?

I don't get it. Am I just in a grumpy mood? :x

I totally Agree with you cfitz.

Like today, I post an answer to someone's question and they seem to ask it again within the same thread, its like my answer is invisible or something. I just wish people would read carefully and stop asking the same thing over and over again.

Also people, listen to what cfitz says, he knows his stuff and is a very useful source of information.

Hey BuddhaTB, thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy (well, at least not in this particular respect  ) and helping to smooth my ruffled feathers.

Do you suppose Socheat has implemented some sort of invisible-ink web font? :D

Users even have the option to have the replies to their inquiries Emailed too them, I guess most of them uncheck that box in their preferences.

not exactly. it isn't the reply that is emailed to them, it is just an email notifying them that a reply has been posted in that thread.

Either way, you'd think they'd check the message board as soon as they get an Email saying somebody replied to their inquiry.

There people who follow internet etiquette and then there are people who use the internet to "get my problem fixed now" type of mentality. The latter ones don't care what forum they post in and how many times they post as long as it hits the most eyes and hopefully gets their problem resolved.

Luckily for me, I don't like those people and I move the topics and/or outright delete them all together :)

Amen brother cfitz...preach on!

But since I don't believe your post, I have to ask...why do people post the same questions ad infinitum?

[No flames please, that last part was just a joke.]

Funny you should post, since I was just about to make a comment here that "they" are at it again and I can't hardly take it anymore! I swear I feel like I am shouting into the wind at times.

Or maybe I just have a bad attitude of late. Perhaps Ian should change my title to "CD-RW Curmudgeon"

cfitz,

Nah, I don't think that your attitude is bad. Personally, I think that some people fail to understand the following acronym:

Reading
Is
Fundamental. :)

Now that we got that squared away, please tell me...what is the best blank media for my (fill-in-the-brand-name) burner?

I slay me.

No problem, BuddhaTB. :) I'm glad that I could provide some comic relief. :)

But I've got another question. Peep this: I go into Best City/Circuit Buy/Fries-n-Shake and pick up a Fugee CD. I pop it into my computer CD-ROM, and I don't see any information about it being made by "Taiyo Yuden." Are Fugee CDs really made by Taiyo Yuden? And who is this "Taiyo Yuden" fella? Is that Wyclef's new bandmate or is it Lauryn Hill's new main squeeze?

I slay me...again.

How long has it been this way? I didn't notice until Reg-da-Ripper pointed it out.

Ian, do I have you to thank for this? I did notice Dan logged in a little while ago though...

Anyway, thanks, it's great!
