Postby aznjosh on Sat Dec 28, 2002 9:15 pm

i scanned it with clonyxxl and it says it has safedisc v2 on it. i tried to burn it using clonecd but it wont start reading. the screen comes up but the read spead stays at around .25x and it wont start. i selected my cd-rom drive as my reader and then selected clonyxxl, then i selected my norcent drive as my writer and then selected clonyxxl again. wat am i doing wrong?

The first 10 minutes of reading a Safe Disc protected disc seem to take for ever. That's where all of the protection is. After this, it should speed up. The reading should take about 15 minutes. 25 minutes at most depending on your settings and drive.

Let it go for a while. It will read it.

Yes. When I use CloneCD , I always turn off notification of errors.

The errors ARE the protection.

Try the disc again with the CLonyXXL/CloneCD combo you mentioned above. Just use the Protected CD profile in CloneCD and you should be ok.

You can download a lot of new profiles from this thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php ... adid=46470

Read that whole thread, and follow the directions on how to use the profiles.

You can download them all in 1 zip file here: http://www.cdfreaks.com/images/forum/Cl ... ofiles.zip

Dont use clonyXXL with the latest clonecd, not needed at all :)

I have backed up countless games using clonecd and custom profiles in the past but now i use the copyrighted game profile that comes with 4.2.0.2 and it works perfect, I have a LG gce8160b firmwared to 2.01 and everything imaged perfectly, I burned max payne onto cheap cdr @ 700mb and it works flawless.

The first 2-6% of any copyrighted cd will take about 15-20 minutes after that normal reading will resume.

Remember you must image copyrighted cd's then burn the image not copy on the fly! and you must use your writer to read to image

I'm having problems trying to get my back-up copy of Max Payne to work as well. I use CloneCd version 4.2.0.2 game profile to back it up and everything went smoothly. I could even use my back-up copy to install the game. The problems occured when I try to use the back-up to play the game. However, I could use the original CD to play the game with no problem. Using the back-up to play, it gives me an error message saying "Please eject and re-insert the CD-Rom, select OK and restart application." Any ideas?

Thanks a lot dodecahedron! I finally got it working. Hide CDR Media is initially disable since I'm in the USA but I did a little more searching and stumble upon this patch that enable it. What is so strange right now is that the back-up copy can only be play in my cd-rw drive and not in my dvd-rom drive.

mind posting the URL to that patch?

that is strange about the game working off the CDRW drive but not off the DVDROM.
maybe the patch has this weird effect.
