Verbatim 48x/12x/48x CD-RW ? Good/Bad?

Postby drakel on Fri Dec 27, 2002 1:11 pm

Ok, I cannot find any info. on Verbatim's website or any reviews or posts on this Verbatim 48x CD-RW.

Does anyone know who makes them, or have any experience with them?

I picked it up for $19AR from Staples, and I have a week left to decide whether or not to keep it or return it. I am looking for a cheap drive (<$20AR) that will do a decent job at ripping and that will burn reliably at (at least) 32x.

Thanks...

Verbatim some times sells Liteon, which is a descent brand. Did you open the box already?
Do you know the firmware version?
Nero of cdspeed will help. Its somewhere under the 'extra' in cdspeed.
Is there a model number on the drive or the box. What kind of buffer-underrun protection does it use?

The box says "featuring burn protection technology" and "VRS Vibration Reduction Technology" - but the manual mentions nothing.

The model number on the drive is:4816P
and the serial is just a long list numbers.

I'm going to return it since it does not appear to be a lite-on.

The model number, 4816P, indicates it is a BenQ drive. In short, it is not as good as a Lite-On.
