I have both and the 548 ist the better drive.
The access-time ist slower but the writing Quality is better.

The Asus is slower and his writing Quality isn't the best. Its not the same drive. The same "scaffold" but not the same.

How do you examine you writing quality?

I know that when I burn on princo or other crappy disks
it has no errors in cdspeed.

I had 540e and it should have had better writing quality
but it produced a lot errors on middle part of CD

my friends also has the problem with 540e

I stick with this one. 4 min is quite fast for me

Hi,

no Errors with Scandisk and writing Quality (Nero), low C1 - Rate with WSES (tested with my LiteOn 48125w).

With TEAC 524E the C1 Rate is a little bit higher und he produce now and then an damaged Sector on Scandisk. Nevertheless its a very good drive.

P.S. witch disks doesn't your 540e like? Test CDRs from Ritek (the best Ritek are labeld from TDK here in Germany) and Tayo Yuden. On my both TEAC they works fine.

i don't use 540e anymore

i don't have any errors on scandisk and cd quality check with nero cd speed

I don't have lite-on burner, so no c1 check
I could do some check with feurio (c2 check)

I used princo with teac 540e and 524e, 524e is superb
btw is read damaged disks better

540e is sold, i don't need many cd-rw
