Folding@Home - Helping Cure Cancer

Postby aviationwiz on Wed Jan 15, 2003 11:28 pm

Folding@Home is a distributed computing program the simulates protein folding which helps discover cures for cancer and many other diseases. The URL is:
http://folding.stanford.edu/

You can fold on teams. Maybe Ian will even make a cdrlabs team, right now I am folding for the MonkeyReview team.

I would wager everyone who's interested in doing such a thing is probably on one of the more prominent teams like anandtech, etc. :)

I guess there isn't going to be a cdrlabs team. If you want to fold for a team you can join the MonkeyReview forums (http://www.monkeyreview.com) and fold for the MonkeyReview team. Our Team # is: 13098

exuse my ignorance, but what's with this "teams" thing?
what's the difference between joining one of the teams and just doing it alone?
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Well, teams just help in the competition. I really enjoy rage3d.com so I give something back for folding for them. Maybe another site that you like has a folding team... I know that any team would love more members so join up and help a team compete!
