Can't burn over 16x with sony crx185e3 32x

Postby schorle on Mon Jan 20, 2003 12:36 pm

I have sony crx185e3(32xMAX)and i can't burn a cdr over 16x.I 'm using nero 5.5.9.17 and other programs. When i insert an empty cdr the max speed goes down automatically (at nero window)at 16x although at the begining the max speed was 32x (without a blank cdr into the drive).I 've tried a lot of brands of multispeed disks.

Any help would be appreciated! thx!

What brands of discs, specifically, have you tried?

Kind of away from the subject, but does your drive have firmware version L08F?

@cfitz: at least 10 different brands.....I'm pretty sure that's not the problem.

@dhc014: yep, Firmware L08F! Something wrong with that version? Is there an update available? Didn't find anything

No, there's no update available. This drive is an OEM BTC as you can see at the link in my signature. It works with mtkflash and I think it may be possible to flash to the 40x BTC. There's also a 32x Memorex version of this drive. If you want to try these firmwares, let me know.

hmmmmmm.....maybe I'll try flashing my drive.......but I'm afraifd of damaging it, so it'll become totally useless. Is is very complicated to do the update? Is it safe?

I have never flashed the drive, but since it is compatible with mtkflash error recovery should be fairely easy.
