the speed difference between 48x and 52x is negligible.

unless you give more info about the burners you are considering/debating which to buy, that's the best answer you can get.

Get the Sony 48x, because I believe it can be upgraded to the 52x writer since its based on the Lite-On LTR-48246S. But I would ask dhc014 for sure, since he's the Lite-On firmware expert around here.

hey music_lover
Where in India are you? If you are in Bombay, go for either the Sony CRX210E1 or the Lite-On LTR48126S/48246S (same drive) . They are available at lamington Road for 4300-4500 rupees.
Lemme know if you need help, as I stay pretty close to Lamington Road,

As Gary pointed out, yes the Sony CRX210E1 as well as the CRX215E1 are easily overclocked to a CRX220E1, or converted to a LTR-52246S. I don't like the CRX220E1 firmware from what I saw so I would recommend the 6S0A Sony/Liteon firmware from http://kickme.to/sony210
