Yes, you need to be a lot more specific than that. What drive do you have, what firmware does it have now, and to what firmware are you worrying about upgrading?
Firmware is your optical drive Bios . As long as you don't encounter problems ( issue=problem ) you don't need to flash your optical drive with a newer Firmware . In some cases also Firmware adds performance or funcionalities . Notice that Firmware performance or abilities improvements are always based on Hardware/optical drive potential .
