Need Help! My Lite-On 52x doesn't seem to be working right!

I am at wits end trying to get my CD Burner to work correctly. Breakdown on the system:

AMD XP1700+
Iwill XP333 Board
512 meg DDR266
Lite On 52x Burner
Windows 2000

It seems to burn fairly fast (around 3:00 for a 72min CD). But if I try to extract audio from a music cd it's full of errors and only does it at 2x speed. When I run Nero's CD tests it won't complete the transfer rate test and when I do a DAE quality test is reports 0 with over 2% errors. I have 4.6 version of ASPI installed. DMA is enabled. I checked the BIOS and it shows that the channels are set to Auto. One weird thing is that the little summary screen during bootup shows my two primary channels at ATA100 (my harddrives), but the burner shows ATA33. Anyone have any ideas?

This is correct and no need to worry about it. The max speed that any CD-RW drive can support is UDMA 33 which is ATA33.

My test cd was dirty and had a couple scratches. When I put a clean CD in everything worked perfectly... Goddamnit. I spend so many hours on this!!!! :o

Mark

All those hours didn't go to waste, at least now you know your burner doesn't read scratched CD's very well. :)
