Anyone have any experience with Simpletech DDR?

Postby BoGMan1a on Tue Feb 11, 2003 6:31 pm

There is a decent deal on 512 meg PC2700 DDR sticks at Newegg right now ($79) and I was wondering about others opinions on it. I am thinking of purchasing two sticks of this stuff along with an ASUS A7N8X Mobo (Nforce 2 SPP;$119) and an Athlon 2600 XP(333 fsb;$247) as the basis for my next rig (about $530 for the lot from Newegg). Does anybody see any problems with the setup, or can anybody offer up some opinions? I appreciate any input as this will be my first "from scratch" PC.

I don't have any experience with the simpletech brand ram myself, they make great flash media i know for sure :) You might want to check the CAS and other things to see how low it will go.

Simpletech sells good stuff. My roommate ordered a laptop hard drive from them and it worked beautifully. I'm sure they use name brand chips in their desktop media. Have you read any of the user reviews on Newegg about this RAM? I recall there being at least one or two reviews.

Yeah, I checked the 2 reviews, but not a whole lot there. I ordered the two sticks of the stuff anyways, figured that I wouldn't see a better price without an MIR anywhere else. Heck, at $168 I paid pretty much what my local computer store wanted for a single stick ($143). Hope it is good stuff though. Decided to wait and see on the Mobo for another month to get a good feel for experiences with it, I also figured that would give me a little more processor in a month too :D .

Absolutely, and don't forget to post your experiences with the Simpletech RAM. That way we all know whether it's good or not.

I don't know about Simpletech, but www.googlegear.com has Kingston 512MB DDR2700 for $82, which is a great price.
