Mt. Rainier is the name of the development project.
the marketing name of the technology is EasyWrite.

this mt rainer has been in drives for a short while now, but there are things that i also don't understand about it.

it is supposed to provide floppy-like access on cd-rw storage medium, formatting in the background and make increase the ease of usage.

however are users supposed to see this say in their os?

im running winxp and should i drag and drop files to my cdrw it still tells me that i have files awaiting to be copied, it doesn't seem to copy them directly to the cdrw as it would a floppy. same goes with erasing..

are there special drivers for this to be loaded?

i am running winxp sp1a and an lg 52x24x52 (gce-8520b)

i am assuming that xp would have native support for this technology.

Mt. Rainier was designed with native OS support in mind. Unfortunately none of the current Windows or Mac OS's have it. You will need to install a 3rd party client like InCD to take advantage of this feature.
