Auction Title: HUGE MONSTER CHEETO! VERY RARE! CHEETOS
Auction Description: Absolutely humongous Cheetos glob in a solid mass. This baby tips the scales at a whopping .60 ounces, and is a real abberation, see quarter for size comparison. Very Gross! This came from an ordinary bag of Cheetos brand snacks, and The Frito Lay company will pay big bucks for this item. The monster cheeto for sale is the one on the left. The normal one on the right, sadly, has already been eaten. Untouched by human hands (I'm afraid to touch it), this cheeto will cost $4.95 for priority mail, insured. Foreign bidders are welcome, but will pay higher shipping cost. Payment by PayPal.com only Please!

It was a real joke because the bidding price was over $4,000.

That must be one spectacular Cheeto... :o :-?

I wonder what the legalities are? This guy is offering a genuine product for sale, and if you bid on it?? It has offer, consideration and acceptance. Doesn't that make a contract?

It's back (apparently ebay shut down the first auction, calling it a joke), although this time he is offering it as a buy-it-now sale with an asking price of $550: :o :-?

Stranger still, a number of people are trying to capitalize on the whole escapade by offering "Remember the Cheeto Auction" T-shirts:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=1469

There is also someone trying to sell the domain name "ebaycheeto.com":

And some joker offering a picture of him looking at the original auction page:

Is that Nero I hear fiddling? (no pun intended) Unbelievable. But I guess I should salute their "entrepreneurial" spirit?? :-?

cfitz, thanks for the follow up.

Pretty funny to see all these auctions relating to the big cheeto.
This is what happens when college kids have too much free time on their hands. But you can't deny their "entrepreneurial" spirit.
