Anybody bought Nashua 50 Cdr x 48 Spindlebox?

i'm guessing it's not Mitsui.

i havent tried this brand, but back in chile, a friend bought them all the time. made copies for me and musci cds, etc etc, and they worked perfectly well. in regards to length of storage, i cant really, say, but if you keep the cds stored safely then they should last a looong time....

i would guess that Mitsui is very expensive...from my experience Nashua is not.
but if you find out that they are, let us know.
i've seen some Nashua for sale round here where i live (Israel) and if it's Mitsui i would buy some!

Ok, so check Pandas man.
They have it in 48X spindlebox the price is 110 Shekels (which isn't that expensive) for 50 cd's. And i'm pretty sure it's Mitsui.

Not likely. The equivalent of $23 for 50 CD-R, in Israel, no less? I'd say dodecahedron has the right idea here. These are way too cheap to be Mitsui. What makes you think they are?

Even in the U.S., where prices are typically lower, Mitsui silver CDs go for $0.55 per disc and up, compared to the $0.46 per disc you are quoting. Sure, there is a chance you have found a super bargain, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I were you.

i'm pretty sure it is not.

110 shekels (approx $22 including tax) is not bad for a 50-spindle.
but don't forget the 39 shekels shipping.

anyway, why not buy them and see what they are? and let me know.
if they turn out to be Mitsui then sure, i'll buy some too!

Israel has the largest development center of Intel outside of the US.
large manufacturing plants too.

yeah, i know, the electicity to drive those plants/R&D facilities comes from donkeys going around in circles outside by the Olive trees...or maybe it was hamsters on a wheel...?

Israel is no Afghanistan, that's for sure. Economically well developed, even if politically it is somewhat, well, let's say "troubled"......

Anyways, Nashua is/was an Anglo-German company, which I thought had disappeared a while ago actually. Virtually all their media I've seen was CMC, with one batch from an unknown "4M" factory.

Nashua is a reputable company. They sell quality products which carry a lifetime guarantee. I'm using their cd-r, cd-rw and diskettes for years and they never let me down.

Just bought a 25 spindle. 700Mb 52x speed. it's a Prodisc, made in Hongkong. Burnt 4 data cd's and tested them with CdSpeed's Scandisc, file and surface. All 4 100% no errors, 100% all green squares.
Nice!

I can hardly say the same for any Verbatim, Fuji or recent Philips I burnt.

No, I won't.
I've already tested them with Disk Verifier on top of Cd Speed's tests.
4 cd's passed 3 tests with 100% - they ARE good in my book

I've never used it, but looking at the link you supplied, I would guess that Fix-It's disc verifier, when used on a CD, just ensures that the file system isn't corrupted and doesn't do lower-level testing and diagnostics. In other words, if a CD tests out with no errors on CD Speed so that all sectors are readable bit-wise, then there is no reason to expect Fix-It would find any problems independently (unless your burning software has a bug and messed up the image prior to burning). Is that true, or does Fix-It test more for a CD?

You're right, Disk Verifer just checks for readability, it's nothing to write home about and I wasn't trying to sell it either. In case of errors it will list the files that couldn't be read, that's all.

Some updating:
A local store has offered a collect sale of Nashua Spindlebox 50+2 cds, rated at 52X for about 16.5$. That's around 0.3$ per cdr.

I should wonder who's the manufacturer of these particular cds?

that's supposed to be not bad at all. why not go for it?
