KMart Fuji CDR,s deal

They have the Fuji 50 pack for 12.99 with no rebate. It doesn't seem to be listed on their web site but my flyer has it listed today till next saturday.
Maybe not as good of a deal as Best Buy but they probably still have them in stock

I haven't seen any slower then 48x for a while now, the 48 will do 52 no problem. If they're really old stock maybe 40x stuff, it does 40x max on my stuff.

The only ones I saw at a K-Mart 2 weeks ago were only 24X.

I would probably agree with you if it was any other manufacturer, but Taiyo Yuden isn't any other manufacturer. Here is a Fuji/TY 24x rated disc burned in my LTR-48246S. The SMART-BURN speed limit was 40x, but I disabled it and burned at 48x:

Needless to say, it tests out 100% green in CD Speed Scan Disc as well.

Maybe not everyone will want these, and yes the 48x TY discs burn with marginally better quality in my drive, but these 24x discs are still good quality and will burn well above their 24x rating in a good drive.

Well, don't go overboard.

You can get good quality burns on other media as well. For my long-term digital photo archives I am heeding the maxim "don't put all your eggs in one basket." Yes, I use TY (mostly Fuji), but I also burn to Verbatim DataLifePlus and plan to burn to a phthalocyanine based brand as well. That way I will have a copy on each of the three major dye types, and on three different brands as well. So, just in case something unexpected goes wrong with one (or even two) of the discs down the line (perhaps even with the TY discs - perish the thought!), I will be covered with the alternate disc(s).

I suppose I could just continue to monitor my discs for degradation on a regular basis and copy them to new if something starts going bad, but I know I am too lazy and disorganized to really make that work effectively... :wink:
