Nero-disabling eject?

Hi,
Is there any way to make Nero doesn't eject
the CDs after the burning is complete?

Check the "Do not eject the disc after the burn is complete" box on the "Expert Features" tab of the Preferences dialog (File->Preferences..).

Thanks, cfitz! I disliked this "feature", too, but I didn't know that it could be disabled.

This feature may be usefuly for many burners. Often, a newly recorded CDR will not be recognized in Explorer until the drive tray has been opened and closed.

This is because the drive buffer may contain invalid information. When the tray is opened and closed, the buffer is cleared and refreshed.

Some software like CDRWin has no ability to open the tray. Unwary users of CDRWin often complain that they have a successful burn but can't read the contents in Explorer. All they have to do is open and close the drive tray.

can you say which drives suffer from this phenomenon? is it particular brands or chipsets?
is there a way to find out if a particular drives has this behaviour (other than experiencing the phenomenon on that drive)?

I've got both Plextors and Liteons (sorry hoxlund and scour

) and have experienced this effect with both. It doesn't always seem to happen with all software. It may be that some software can use MMC commands to refresh the burner contents after the conclusion of a burn, but this is just a hypothesis.

I don't know of any way of determining this effect other than an empirical approach.

Generally, I think it is best to open the tray after a burn by default to ensure that the drive contents are refreshed.
