Samsung SM-348 turned SM-352?

Hi all,

Having recently bought a Samsung SM-348, I noticed today that Samsung released its new slightly quicker version of this drive, the new SM-352.

Question, would it be possile to flash the 348 with the latest 352 firmware?

Anyone care to opinionate?

Very possible. The Samsung is a 24x rewrite, and a MTK chipset, all the right ingredients for being overclockable. Interesting...

I tried overclocking the 348 with 352 firmware. Everything goes well
change of names, identification, speed detection, etc... But when i tried to burn cdrs at 52x or any other speed, it failed with weird errors & drive just spinned without writing. Tried the burning in Nero 5.5.10x. Btw, you cannot update the firmware with Samsung's native utility so i used mtkflas for win.

Hence it's a drive with a better flash rom, it was able to switch back and forth in firmware without any issues.

As soon as the T802 patch went out, I tried patching my SM-348B... was happy the patch was successful, reading at 52X... DVD at 16X.... re-writing/writing.... the drive just kept spinning and spinning... LOL

Yup, I thank GOD for MTKWinFlash... me drive is back to SM-348B again

Is there a company named MTK? or it is samsung own chips?
