Postby dodecahedron on Sun Apr 20, 2003 9:37 am

although i am a US citizen, and a fluent English speaker, as i don't live in the states i'm not very familiar with some slang and the latest developments. also, i'm rather new (couple of years) to surfing the 'net (for non-professional reasons) etc.

so here are some acronyms i've come across and haven't been able to figure out by myself.
anyone care to explain?

Do you know about the Jargon File (published as "The New Hacker's Dictionary" at odd intervals? I found 2 snapshots:
http://catb.org/esr/jargon/html/ and http://jargon.watson-net.com/section.asp. Some of the other links in these files are no longer current- e.g. "tuxedo.org" takes you to the eff.

I'm sort of out of it with other slang terms, too. In one posts, a drive was labelled as a "pos" with negative conotations. What does this mean ? Obviosly not positive.

As PC World Magazine puts it, NetLingo is the most comprehensive online acronym guide.
