LiteOn Dual Format Writer on Pricewatch

Sounds good :)

One little caveat though; just because it advertises itself "Generic CRD-BPDV2" doesn't necessarily mean it's manufactured by Sanyo themselves. The old Artec 4/8x drives were made by Artec even though they showed the same ID string as the Philips 4201/8401 they were based on. The reference design/circuit will doubtless be near-identical if not completely the same.

Sounds like a bargain to me :D

Thanks jsl

As long as we're posting Newegg pictures, here's the front of the 400D:

Yeah it's the same bezel as Sony's OEM drive (DW-U10A):

What if it is Sony?

Turns out that, according to Pricewatch.com, the LDW-400 is indeed the same thing as the Sony DRU-500 series. And from what I've read about both the Sony drive and Lite-On drives in general, that's not such a bad thing.

So you want to say that LiteOn get OEM version of Sony and made thier own drive? Not vice versa?

That is correct.
